This cello closely follows the Stradivari model. It manifests a beautiful choice of materials combined with superb workmanship and attention to detail throughout. It is well-toned and responsive and would open doors for progress and expression. It speaks with ease and is a pleasure to play.
The two-piece back is of mildly flamed maple, repeated in the ribs, neck and scroll. The top is of very good tone spruce with fairly open grain throughout. One is struck by the lovely amber-brown oil varnish over the yellow ground with shades of brown - reminiscent of Stradivari, or even of Vuillaume.
One notices the flawless attention to detail, particularly in the tracing of the purfling, the outstanding cornerwork and mitres, and also in the scroll, which is balanced and elegant.
At this time this cello is fitted with a Belgian bridge by Aubert, a light-weight professional quality tailpiece, and a firm steel endpin, ensuring stability during performance.
This cello would open many doors for a discerning cellist seeking a responsive voice for expression.
