Of the many Czechoslovakian instruments that have come through this dealership, I can safely say that this one impresses most. Not only is it very well-made of a fine selection of materials, but it is also very well-toned and responsive.
The Czechoslovakian output of violins during the 1960s through to the early 1990s are all characterised by the high quality of materials, excellent standard in workmanship and fine tonal properties. Their workshops produced instruments of several grades - from beginner, through intermediate and advanced, to entry level professional, always well-crafted from a good selection of materials. They were consistent in their standards and these instruments today are respected, sought-after and appreciated.
This violin is no exception. It is based on the Stradivari pattern. The top is of excellent tone spruce with a medium to fine grain. The one-piece back is truly attractive and of excellent mildly figured maple. The varnish is a lovely amber-brown which complements the materials well.
It is easy to play, responsive and with good projection. It would suit a serious student wishing to make rapid growth into the world of professional playing.
