In this violin one is struck by a high level of discernment in choice of materials, fine workmanship throughout and great attention to detail, noticeably in the purfling and cornerwork, with its excellent mitres.
It would be very difficult to ascribe it to any particular origin - at first glance one would say German, but some aspects of the instruments are reminiscent of French preferences. Suffice it to say that it is clearly from a studio where very high standards were maintained.
One notices the attractive nicely flamed maple used in the two-piece back, ribs, neck and scroll, along with the lovely pale golden-brown spirit varnish of high transparency that allows one to admire the wood. The top is of high-grade tone spruce with very even medium-to-narrow grain.
It is a well-toned violin which speaks with power and projection, engages easily and is a pleasure to play. It would be equal to most demands made on it and would open a wide door of progress for a talented musician.
