Although the Fleur-de-lys motive in bow frogs are usually associated with the work of the Hill firm in London, it was in fact already previously used by some French makers in Mirecourt and in Paris during the 18th & 19th centuries. However, the Hill Company adopted the Fleur-de-lys inlays (usually in silver, gold, or mother of pearl) as one of their distinctive decorative signatures in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It became a house style of theirs, so much so that many people today associate fleur-de-lys in bow frogs with Hills.

This is an excellent bow by all standards. The selection of materials, combined with outstanding workmanship throughout, is on a par with high-end professional master bows. Not only does this bow have high visual appeal but its playing properties are equal to any demand made on it and would satisfy the most discerning player.
