This really attractive violin is very well-toned. It was made in Eastern Europe to the specifications of Johan Grobbelaar and was imported in 2011.
The lovely one-piece back is of nicely flamed maple with a distinct narrow curl. The ribs, neck and scroll show a medium curl, but also nicely flamed. The top is of tone spruce with a very straight and even medium grain. The varnish is an appealing reddish amber, and is nicely antiqued at the usual places to give the impression of age. Workmanship throughout is superb and conforms to high standards.
This violin is responsive and is certainly equal to high demand on volume and projection.
