Walter Mettal (b. 1941) is considered by some as being the finest of modern German bowmakers. He was born into a family of important bowmakers and along with his father they operated from Schönbach. He was Medal winner at the Kassel Exhibition in 1983.

Apart from making standard modern bows, Mettal is also a specialist maker of baroque bows. These bows are always admired and appreciated for their beautiful construction, also for their strength and firmness, which gives the player much subtle control over the string.

This bow is in superb condition. As with all baroque bows, the plain frog sits directly on the stick without underslide.
