Emil Max Penzel (1887 - 1953) was an important German bow maker who stands tall in the German bow making landscape of the 20th century. He initially studied bowmaking with the great H. R. Pfretzschner and worked in the Pfretzschner workshop in Markneukirchen for 10 years before moving to Erlbach, where he would spend the rest of his life. He is considered as a very important bow maker.

This bow is in superb condition and is characterized by excellent balance and articulation - makes the most difficult passages really easy.

It must be noted though that the adjuster button is not the original. Also, since the photos below were taken, the button has been replaced by a new one which greatly improves the bow's appeal.

The camber is superb and the bow is perfectly straight. It would be a good career bow for a professional or serious violinist.
