Arthur Richard Bultitude (1908-1990) was one of England's foremost bowmakers. His work earned him an MBE.
Bultitude joined the important firm of W. E. Hill & Sons in 1922 when he was only 14 years old. He was trained by the great William Retford and became one of the foremost bowmakers in the Hill firm. In the early 1960s he left Hill and opened his own workshop.
This superb silver-mounted cello bow is as good a Bultitude as one could hope for. It is stamped 'A.R.BULTITUDE' above the frog on both sides of the stick. It has truly superb playing properties with excellent balance and articulation, putting the player in control of the tone and response. It appears to be original in all its parts.
This bow should be in the hands of a discerning musician who would benefit greatly from its excellent qualities.
