Everything about this cello pleases - from the attractive selection of materials to its excellent and responsive tonal properties. One is immediately struck by attention to detail in its workmanship, notably in the tracing of purfling and the excellent cornerwork to the finely executed mitre in each corner.

The top is of excellent tone spruce with narrow grain on the centre line widening to the flanks. The two-piece back and ribs are of more mildly flamed maple with a medium to narrow curl. The varnish is an attractive light golden brown over a yellow ground, complimenting the wood very well and making this cello pleasing on the eye. The fs are elegant and nicely executed, as is the scroll. The finger board is round, meaning no Romberg.

This cello should serve well as career instrument for a professional player.
