What strikes one first of this bow is that it appears to be genuinely old - at a guess it was probably made late in the 19th century. Yet, the fittings still appear to be the original. There is evidence of much use in the grip area. This is bow is unstamped and at this time is of unknown origin.
It has truly superb playing properties. It weighs in slightly higher than the norm, but the stick is exceptionally firm. Overall the balance is superb and the bow moves with unusual steadiness and excellent articulation, making it a true pleasure to play with.
Five minutes of playing with this bow - asking anything of it - makes it clear why this was the bow of choice of a foremost concert violinist and important teacher - it does everything just right.
