Despite its labelling this violin is of unknown origin. Workmanship in it is consistent with the output of German trade studios of the 1920's and 1930's and it is truly doubtful that this violin is of French origin, as suggested by the label. It is structurally sound and well-toned and one can expect that it should serve deserving young violinists for many decades to come.

Despite numerous scratches and wear in the varnish and damage to the scroll volute - no doubt the result of carelessness by generations of children - this violin is structurally in excellent condition and free from cracks or evident repairs.
