Although unstamped and bearing absolutely no identifiers this bow is mounted in pure silver and everything about it shows refined workmanship throughout. At least one authority suggested that it might be from the later Pfretzschner studio. It is a light bow which manifests elegance, particularly in the head, and its overall appearance is almost feminine in character.

This bow has very good playing properties by all standards - it's well balanced and articulates well.

Weight : 55.1 g

The Stick :
  Octagonal. Good pernambuco

The Nut :
Ebony. Simple mother-of-pearl eye. Three ring adjustor.

Mountings :
  Pure silver

Lapping :
Black imitation whalebone. Black ostrich shin leather thumbpad, recent.

Tip Slide :
  Indeterminate

Condition :
  Excellent. Recently completely refurbished.
Although there is no fracture at the tip, two small wood grafts have been made on the players flank of the tip. It's not clear why, but it may have been done to remove blemishes in the wood.
It can be said with certainty that this bow is structurally completely secure.

Provenance :
  Owned by Johan Grobbelaar
