This is an attractive instrument made of well-chosen materials - the two-piece back and ribs are of mildly flamed maple of a medium curl, also used in the ribs. The neck and scroll are less flamed. The top is of good tone spruce with medium winter growth. The Fs are crisp and the purfling and mitres show a steady hand, with accuracy and attention to detail in the corners. It has an amber oil-based varnish with a hint of golden red and although made in 2016, has been antiqued somewhat to resemble an older instrument.
This is a responsive cello, easy to play, with good focus, balance and projection. The current strings are Jargars (blue), fitted since the photos were taken.
