Instruments bearing the label 'François Barzoni' were produced at Château-Thierry near Paris during the period 1880 to 1920 and were made exclusively for the London firm of Beare & Son. As in this case, these instrument were stamped 'FB' on the button and below the endpin. This violin also bears the associated label stating that it was made 1891 for Beare & Son.
It is an unusually attractive instrument in virtually flawless condition. All Barzonis were made of carefully selected Swiss spruce and well-figured sycamore. Workmanship throughout is superb.
This particular violin is unusually well-toned with a powerful, well-balanced robust tone, focussed and with projection, making it suitable for almost any performance requirement.
