The importance of Eugène Sartory in the world of bow making needs no introduction. He was born in Mirecourt, France, in 1871. After initially studying bowmaking with his father, he worked under Peccatte in Paris and later with Lamy until he opened his own workshop in Paris. He died in 1946.
In this bow only the stick is by Sartory. The nut, button, lapping, thumbpad and probably the tip slide are all later. The stick is of fine pernambuco cut octagonally. Although not original to the bow, the nut is in very good condition.
This bow has all the excellent playing properties one would normally associate with a good Sartory.
It was never displayed on this website, but is now included in the archives for reference purposes.
