This cello is made of attractive materials and is at first glance an appealing instrument which follows the Stradivari model. Its good looks are matched also by its tonal properties which are strong and responsive - an easy instrument to play on. The tone is of good solo quality - balanced and with carrying power and penetration.

The two-piece back and sides are of well-flamed maple with an irregular distinct medium curl with good visual impact. The top is of attractive medium-grained tone spruce of fairly open growth lines and the scroll wood is nicely figured. The golden brown varnish is based on a French recipe and compliments the wood nicely. This instrument shows very tidy work and attention to detail - throughout it gives evidence of experienced craftsmanship and a steady hand.

This cello was especially commissioned with the objectives of good tone and visual appeal. The result is an instrument of excellent tonal properties which competes with the output of some leading master instrument builders.

It convinces as a serious instrument that conforms to the properties one would expect from a professional cello.
